I have just been looking for some information which is entirely unrelated to railwayson on Ancestry.com , and find that Ancestry now has on line searchable information from the NRO file 397.

Not sure what the cost is since I have an annual subscription, but some genealogists with family members who worked for the LNER might find this useful.

Interesting to see the salaries of A H Peppercorn, A C Stamer at al!

Mrs BB says:

I found GG Granddad's starting date, age, height, position when started and which department, promotion and wage on this site. Highly recommended!

If your local library subscribes to Ancestry Library then access is FREE! If your local library doesn't subscribe like ours in Wolverhampton, then your library card is valid for Internet access anywhere so we tend to go to Dudley to look at theirs quite a bit.
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!
