There's this guy currently on the railway that realised that he was living a ''dull life'' so to spice it up a bit he decides to take flying lessons. :?

So this guy turns up at the airfield for his first lesson and the guy says to his instructor ''Wot happens if we hit trouble up there??''.

The instructor said ''Don't worry son your ALWAYS get back down maybe not in one piece but YOU WILL GET DOWN AGAIN!!.''

Thats a true story.

First thing I was told by my instructor was 'Right, when we get up there we're gonna do some 30* banked turns, then I'm going to ask you to stall the aircraft'......

I was told by the guy taking flying lessons for the first time that some guy had been killed shortly before he was about to take his first flying lesson!!!.

Apparently (and i'm only going on wot he told me) that the guy who had been killed had got into a light aircraft and took off on his own down the runway and climbed to about 200-300ft when the wings on his aircraft basically FELL OFF!!!!!!!.

And this guy wanted to take flying lessons to ''spice his life up a bit?'' yeah right on!!. :?

When I was in the Army and doing some Helicopter training for deployment to Belize.
This involved a number of trips around Salisbury plain with landings not always equalling take offs, usually involving climbing down ropes from 100ft plus.
Anyway one bright spark asked the Puma pilot "What happens if an engine fails?"
Pilot lent forward and flicked a switch and said THIS and turned the engine off.
That's when we found out about autorotation.

I've heard from several sources that Lancasters, Spitfires and Airspeed Oxfords were buried at Castle Bromwich Airodrome sometime after the end of WW2. With the whole place massively redeveloped out of all reconition if they are there its unlikely they will be found.
Its good to know where you stand. Saves making a fool of yourself later......

PA474 was having remedial work done on her No.1 engine, but scaffolding got in the way of taking any good photos.
