Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot

Post by Malcolm »

They were not joking when they said that Kuwait is one of the hottest countries on this planet.
For the past few days the temperature has never dipped below 45 degrees centigrade, and, yesterday it reached 50 DEGREES!!!!!
It's like being inside a fan oven.
I'm glad our summer break is coming soon: finish here on July 8th and don't have to be back in Kuwait until August 26th.
Problem is I don't know what to do with myself over that period. Looking for gainful employment, volunteer somewhere, or just find somewhere to lounge around (would prefer the first two).
Decisions, decisions. What to do?

To think, we reckon it's hot when it gets to 25c! Enjoy.

For the sake of balance, we're expecting a frost here tonight and there was snow on the ground for two days last week. Yes, it's May 31, 2010 here, too.

90s here in Dallas - it was cooler in Costa Rica last week. Actually, it usually is. Cooler but humidity up near 100%. We had earthquakes and volcanoes though, to make up :-)

Just when you think it can't possibly get any hotter...........it suddenly does.

Yesterday topped out at 53 degrees centigrade

AND

today reached a staggering 54 degrees.

Now I know what a rotisserie chicken feels like.

G'Day Gents
I worked in a plastics factory a few years back and one 46c day working next to large pipe extruding machines it reached 56c and at knock off time (3pm) we walked outside, and all said ahhh, nice a cool, A guy going past on his bike called us all ******* idiots, little did he know!!

Another day the cooling tower fan motor packed up (water needed for cooling the molten plastic) so there we were with miles of plastic pipe coming out and the water temp was rising, so the boss speeds off to get a new one, an leaves my mate and me to get the old one out, which we did, but it was above a six foot fan and inside said cooling tower and we're 30 odd feet of the ground and the temps building up to 45c, I ended up on top of the cooling tower hauling the motor up into position, with the help of the boss and my mate who were inside the cooling tower, I had to take the whole weight of the motor (about 70Kg) while they bolted into place, Boy was I glad when that job was over!!

I know the feeling well after a spell in Aden & Oman in summer before the days of sunscreen & aircon.

Is there an indoor skating rink or winter sports centre anywhere? Perhaps you could get a job in an ice cream factory?
