50A and Colombo,
I have limited resources, mainly the LNER Encyclopedia and a 1950 ABC combined volume, can I answer the puzzle with these?

You will need this to hit this paper sized loco
A 3 digit number which totals just 8, the later renumbering only added 6 more
At home in '59 and in Polmadie for withdrawl in half a dozen more.

John B,
You also have the Locoshed Index, which gives you all the allocations on line, as listed in the Ian Allan Locoshed books. So you can look to see what was allocated to each shed.

Aha,
I have it now.
Robin Hood would definitely need this to hit the paper sized loco, (he could also split an arrow already in the bull remember) Thompson would indeed have been proud.
A2 "Steady Aim"
Procedural point here! I guessed the clues some time after Colombo did, soooooo my question is whose turn is it now to write more clues?
Oh dang it!??!!? Here's one I prepared earlier, guess the class:
1. Unamed locos; dual attribution
2. Tractive effort summed up as 28
3. Class: a corvid
4. Nearly half the class at an eastern region shed (1950)

Here's one for any officianado's amongst you.
Guess this LNER engine's class and number
1. The only casualty of the class and it was not mentioned in the
1950 ABC Combined Volume.
2. Withdrawn & scrapped after being in service for only four years.
3. Before the Guthrum's, Bodicca's supporters held sway around here.
4. At Domesday, this locomotive's home shed was called
Gipewiz.
Good luck !?!
if you guess it, then it's your turn
