Be very carefull.

I got one from someone I know well saying she had been mugged in Spain whilsy on holiday and her cards, purse, money everything stole, needed help to get home.

Being a good mate I rang her at home, she answered saying she had never even been to Spain and all her mates had got the same email.

Someone had got into her address list and sent it to the lot.

if sounds too good to be true....then someone is on the make.

I *quite* like the ones asking to to verify your internet banking accounts details and password......especially as a) I don't bank online and b) it usually from a bank that I don't deal with in any case. The grammar/spelling etc is usually dreadful!

They - both types - get bounced to the respective spoof/scam/fraud department.
(and the originals are then deleted).

Luckily my email spam filter picks 99.9% of them.....

About three days ago I got a phone call from a person with an Asian accent.
Caller; " I'm ringing from your bank to tell you you have been overcharged on many occasions"
Me; " That sounds bad "
Caller; " We intend to repay you in full "
Me; " Good "
Caller; " We need to ask you some questions for security reasons "
Me; " What sort of questions?"
Caller; " Just a few account details to make sure we have the right person"
Me; " I have accounts at different banks ( I lied ) which bank do you work for?"
Click bzzzzzzz. end of call.

I use similar time wasting methods with the ones that ring and tell me that my computer is running slow and is chock full of viruses. Nearly all of them say that they are from Windows/Microsoft so I tell them I use Linnux. That really throws them.

My response to both starts with "You'll be lucky."

I then say either "I don't have a bank account," or "I don't have a computer." Neither of these statements are true but then the scamming scumbags are lying as well!

Best response I know, and I have adopted it from one of my Area Movements Inspectors who, when visiting the occasional whingers and whiners whilst he was doing signalbox and level crossing visits, always gave the response "Put it in writing" in a fine North Walian accent. Try it, works every time for me, and it doesn't sound rude!. RIP George Morgan

I have come across quite a few Nigerians in my line of work.

Only a couple were honest. All the others seemed to make a habit of trying to be too-clever-by-half.
