Q6 63395 to visit the Wensleydale Railway

Post by Rlangham »

Just noticed via the Wensleydale Railway's Facebook page that Q6 Class 0-8-0 63395 is due to operate passenger services on the Wensleydale Railway on the late May Bank Holiday weekend of 23rd-25th May. Certainly hope to try and make it myself, I haven't travelled on the Wensleydale myself or seen the Q6 in one piece

I'm not sure it is in one piece yet. It is supposed to be doing two round trips from Pickering to Grosmont hauling a special train for the LNERCA on May 9th, so hopefully it will be by then, if not then the K1 might deputise instead.

I do wonder if the Wensleydale visit is a long standing arrangement or as a consequence of the probably longer than the planned stay of 2005 at the Moors (along with two Black 5's and the K4).

Suggest you look at the information on the NELPG website
....here....
You may need to scroll down a bit to get to the planned visits for the Q6.

Thank you. My doesn't time fly! Although the Q6 is going to miss the special train on May 9th, the good news is that it is only just missing it, so will be ready in time for the visit. The LNERCA train is going to get either the K1 or K4 instead hopefully.

Saw the eccentrics sat ready when we fitted the left hand rods last Saturday and thought it looked like it would be an interesting job re-fitting them. She should definitely be ready for Wensleydale, but the real push is making sure she's fit and ready for regular service if Riley's fives and the K1 are released any time soon.

From the Wensleydale Railway website http://www.wensleydalerail.com/ neither Joem nor the Q6 are now able to visit for the Anniversary weekend.

Joem failed at the Epping and Ongar http://www.nelpg.org.uk/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=53 .

No news on the Q6.
