Had an enjoyable couple of hours at the Cradley Heath show this afternoon and came away with wallet suitably drained, Among the purchases was an Hornby Dublo N2 and a spare body shell. Some of these were sent North after the grouping and one in particular was a Tweedmouth loco although outstationed at Duns in Scotland, ive been thinking about a tidied up and resprayed version for some time and as these two items came up unboxed at bargain prices ive taken the plunge.
On examination first thing to go is the Hornby sticker on the rear of the bunker and removal of the die marks see pic of shell and complete loco i have tidyied up the rear of the bunker on the shell and now need to just ease a little tidying along the cab roof and boiler top.
What side of the tanks was the water filler and can anyone suggest a suitable filler cap and safety valves.
What type and size of letters and numbers would they carry 4739 or 2590 are my chosen subjects and would they have still carried black lined out with red in my 1937 -1939 time frame. I have the green book but im not sure about the livery as the black and white pics in there do not show reds very well
Thanks in Advance.
See manna G5s South N2s North lol.

Re: Scottish N2s
Thanks for your efforts Manna, things have been progressing slowly i am sitting stoned in the workshop from paint stripper fumes, the de seaming of the die mark has made a large difference, now i am looking for a reasonable drawing to work out the boiler band positions. Atso was helpful with advice such as look in the Big Four in Colour. Next job ring Arthur K to see if he has any suitable tank filler caps.
