I'm just in the final stages of building a Conflat V, to Dia 81.
There is a picture 'in-the-plastic' ....here.... .
Obviously, this will be a bauxite vehicle, but does anyone know what colours the decking and the location bars would have been painted?
(And whether they would have been distinguishable after a few years?)
Also, does anyone know of a picture with a Dia 81 with the wording 'CONFLAT V' ?
All the pictures in Tatlow for this vehicle have them labelled 'CONTAINER FLAT'.

I don't know of any beside what's in Tatlow. I wonder whether the branding changed when they were rebuilt to D 108?

Re: Paint details for Conflats
I have one but, even cropped, it's too large to upload. Now that Microsoft has got rid of Paint it's not easy to resize it. I also have another looking down on the deck. If you PM me your e-mail address I'll send them to you.
Timber decking was left natural colour; brackets etc. were body colour as far as I can tell but the body colour is rather dark in the first image, verging on black?

Re: Paint details for Conflats
Have you tried Paint.net from http://www.getpaint.net/index.html? I find it perfectly satisfactory for such resizing and other image manipulation operations, so if you haven't already done so it may be worth taking a look.
Re: Paint details for Conflats
Red tones in early black and white photos often come out very dark due to the way the colors were captured by the chemicals used.
Re: Paint details for Conflats
The decking will be natural wood, untreated. Any metal work will be body colour. As already suggested.
Thanks to your efforts drmditch, I now have 2 A-type containers for a couple of projects. Thanks to Atlantic3279 and Jonathan.
I am working on the steel container roof question. I have an idea of how this was, but no proof, yet. Certainly everything was built up from standard components.
