Those loo great Manna, especially the A5. Nose heavy or not, that is turning out to be a truly beautiful locomotive.

No post for a while, but still a fair bit going on over here, I have managed to re-motor the Ivatt single chassis and have had it running, not overly impressed, and it will mean carving a chunk out of the underside of the boiler, so while I think things over, on whether I use a Hornby tender drive......or not, I've turned my attention to other loco's.
After a comment on RM Web, I'm trying to turn a very old Triang 3F into a J17. I know it'll never be a real J17, but I'll try to make it 'look' like a J17, and it's not something I've not seen done before (probably for good reason ) I'm part way through, but I need a few bits from the UK, so it's on hold for a week or so.
So I'm back on the C1 Atlantic, the cab has been made and glued to the running plate, the boiler and firebox have been glued to the cab, the runningplate is still a bit 'floppy' at the moment at the front, the splashers will hold it all together, when I fit them, I think it sits a fraction high, so I'll try to take a bit more off from the underside of the boiler, but there's not a lot left to take off.

Life's so busy sometimes, Haven't had a lot of time on the Atlantic, except to make the splasher (not cut out and fitted) but have managed to get a bit of time on the J17. the front splasher has been removed and a splasher/sandbox fitted, another cab has been sourced and has been partially modified to fit, still have the roof to shorten etc, the chmney has been removed and replace with one from 'Thomas', which is where I am at the moment.

I've almost finished the J17 (?) but I'm now on holiday in Queensland, so about 2,000k's from home, so here are the latest pics of the J17, when I get home I'll get stuck into the C1.

That J17 certainly looks the part! I'm looking forward to seeing the C1 progress as I've got a soft spot for that class of locomotive.

Looking for another project, I came across the Robinson B1 class, noticing that it has almost the same coupled wheelbase as the A1/3 and almost the same sized wheels, now having half a dozen 'Flying Scotsman chassis laying around doing nothing, I'm going to hack one up into a B1, but a question, did they stay in Green, until the Second World War ?
The second part involves the same chassis, again very close, but this time it's for a B9, again by Robinson, but this time I'll be re-wheeling the chassis, (L1 wheels) a mill under, but fairly close.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed the wheelbase of the A3 is almost correct for the B1 and B4. I have a Dapol A3 chassis sitting around waiting for the same kind of conversion - mine will be a B4.
I think that both classes retained apple green - crazy when you think that the Jersey Lillie's and D11s ended up in lined black!

Just a short update on the B1, The running plate is from two old GWR Counties I had laying around, after I pinched the chassis for other loco's, some of the top of the A1/3 chassis has been removed to allow the boiler to go down to the correct position, boiler has now been fitted, Errr, pity I didn't fit the smokebox wrapper first !!! .

Good morning all
The B9 has the same wheelbase as the B5, which is 7'0+7'0, which happens to be the same as the BR Britannia.
I don't know of RTR Britannias, but I intend using a Comet Britannia chassis as the basis for a B9.
