Indeed some excellent shots and once again many I've not seen before . But the photo of Quicksilver north of Potters Bar.... oh to be stood at the side of the photographer on that day !

The shot of Quicksilver with the spare set is interesting - I'm almost certain it is the same picture - as in a Gresley Society special on the streamliners, Chris Nettleton has worked out that the train is the Silver Jubilee, so the picture is taken while the regular set was in shops.

As I've mentioned on the National Preservation forum, it's great to see a selection of [in this case Gresley A4s] none British Railway liveried locos. Especially 4469 Gadwell/William Whitelaw [the first to carry the W.W. name], as she is/was one of the last of the class to enter service 1937-8 and first to be withdrawn in 1942 after the Bedecker [air] raid on York......
