J27 65802 location question

Post by upney sidings »

Attached is recently purchased colour slide with enigmatic writing on the slide mount. I think the location written is "DUNN ST". I've found one such in Newcastle with Google Maps and there seem to be the sites of erstwhile gas holders there. Am I on the right track so to speak?
65802 was allocated to North Blyth mpd when the shot was taken.

Are sure that isn't Dunston (east of Gateshead) there was a gasworks In the area where the line along the south bank of the Tyne crossed the river Teams. Although I cannot recall the full details as I left the area some seventy years ago. I return to the area several times each year. I took a lot of photos inside and outside North Blyth shed but 65802 doesn't appear on these.

I think it is the Dunn St. which runs from Scotswood rd down to the river west of the Redheugh bridge , it ran beneath the railway at this point .
Google earth shows two tank bases in the right place and old OS maps are marked oil depot on the east side of Dunn St.

There is a Dunn Street at the West End of the Forth Goods yard but the railway crosses that on a bridge. I would be difficult to get that shot from what appears to be level ground. Just to confuse things there are gasworks there as well.
