At Welwyn North as A3 no.60103 Flying Scotsman blasts out of the south tunnel on a Up express with the writing on the brick walls summing up someone's feelings towards impending dieselisation on the route out of Kings Cross in 1959.

Fond memories as well of train spotting at Welwyn North station between 1968-71 after school during the early evenings with virtually all the trains being worked by either Deltics, Brush type 4s & Brush type 2s with a few x4 or x6 car Cravens units thrown in on the Kings Cross-Hitchin-Royston semi-fast local trains.
