Oxford Rail have announced at the London Toy Fair that they are to produce a Worsdell J26, a GE-origin van, a PO tank wagon, Pilchard ballast and sleeper wagon and a rather interesting 15T crane.

Good grief! The J26 is a logical follow-up to the J27. I didn't think RTR manufacturers these days still saw the perfect sense of using existing tools / parts / designs to simplify the production of additional items in their ranges.

Nor I Graeme, in fact, I'd gone as far as believing the spiel from Bachmann about it not being worth reusing the rolling chassis, as most of the cost was the upper body tooling.

Great news, and bodes well potentially for J25 and J21 models later on, though I think at the very attractive price that the J27 and J26 are offered, the temptation to buy one to build a J21 before that point (i.e. nominally re-wheeling and a new body) is profound. I ordered a J27 this time last year, and you never know, I might get it one day haha.

Cheers. Paul.

It surprises me though that no NER liveries have been announced for either the P2 or P3, considering how popular they'd undoubtedly be.

Maybe someone has their eye on them for a limited edition?

The crane is definitely of interest, when they announce which one will be modelled with a swan neck jib I'll probably place an order. Does anybody know what colour the GCR cranes were?

I would suggest yet other interpretations are possible. Either by design: recognising that the J26/J27 is effectively one class that got steadily upgraded, so we can have two 'new' loco releases pretty much for the price of one; or serendipity: during the research for the J27 it was realised that the J26/J27 is effectively one class that got steadily upgraded, so we can have a second 'new' loco release pretty much for the price of one.

Well, I've taken a chance and pre-ordered a couple of GE vans, but given that the ponged-up N7 is now pushed back to to Q3 2020 I do wonder when they'll come. At least they've remembered the GE!
