O Gauge C12

LNERandBR requested photos of my Boston allocated C12. So here they are. She still needs a shedplate and a good run-in.

Yes indeed - do you do lining in N as well? :-)


The cover of the book I'm reading has a detail from a painting of Kings Cross. I tried to look to see what locomotive type it was - the C12 was a candidate but I couldn't find anything convincing. Looking at the above pictures, I think it is more likely. I'll probably scan the picture and post it soon so people can see what they think.

The furthest Ive gone in N gauge is to fix ready to run graham farish locos that have stripped their gears (my brother seems cursed by this). I mainly do OO and O gauge. Im feeling brave so am attempting to learn to use a lining pen as i have a Robinson B2 to paint in full LNER livery in oo. Not sure how im going to do the wheels though. I used Fox transfers on the C12 they work a treat if you spray the loco gloss first.

As for the picture you mentioned, I know Kings cross had a few C12's so its highly likely. I seem to remember seeing pictures of them with condensing gear on suburbans before the N1 and N2's replaced them. I also remember reading in an old Steam Classic magazine that the guy who bought the preserved J52 bought it straight out of service from Kings Cross and was offered a C12. He chose the j52 as it was in better condition.
