Re: Bachmann D11/2 review
Blackout you have nearly caused me a heart attack, reading further on the cover of your report it refers to Foch by Hornby, i thought ive heard nothing about a J36 being released until i clicked on and found its a scaledale statue not the J36.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Re: Bachmann D11/2 review
Hadn't even noticed that. Too busy reading the stuff on the D11
It's interesting to see the method of attaching the coupled wheelset - we've seen it somewhere before on here.
Just to let you know, I'll be doing a little review of my 506 when she arrives. It's good to know she'll be easy to get into to get that decoder in

Nit-picking time
The D11/2 had long-travel valves and the model has the correct curved reversing lever.
I thought there was a slight flaw in that it has the cylinder rivet pattern (shallow "U") of an engine with short-travel valves. It should have a near-horizontal double line of rivets to represent a "long-travel" engine.
Example here

As far as rivet detail goes, that is actually quite noticeable.

Re: Bachmann D11/2 review
I have removed my original comments here as they no longer apply. For those now puzzled, everything in the upper part of this page had originally been posted in yet another "new" D11 topic, but topics have now been merged.

Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

And yet again see my last post on the other thread.
Worry about rivets on a production model.
If thats all thats is wrong arent we so lucky

Re: Bachmann 2012
Topics merged as the main discussion in recent posts of the Bachmann 2012 thread was already about the D11's - if the subject wasn't already being discussed i'd have left the threads separate

It wasn't my thread to begin with, so stop being quite so insulting. All I did was respond to it.Atlantic 3279 wrote:...Is your memory playing up young Sir?

eh? I don't even know what's going on here. I swear I've only posted that link once - please don't insult my intelligence either, as if I have posted this twice it's because my memory is being bombarded by college subjects. Anyway, I have a photo of the D11/2 on MR's 'Polbrook' at my request which I will post later. It's definitely a lovely smooth runner.

My memory started failing at the first pint...
And keeps on failing.
I like the overall look of the D11/2, however I don't like the big gap between the front bogie and the frames. Is this really necessary?

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive
I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Re: Bachmann 2012
There's been quite a bit of thread duplication recently - Blackout isn't the only culprit but I can sympathise with Graeme's point. IIRC there were several different threads with basically the same photos of forthcoming Hornby releases a few months ago.
That's a minor issue, though - what about HT's much more important point about rivet patterns? Any further comment from anyone? I don't have the Yeadon covering the Scottish Directors so I don't know whether it's correct for 62677 or not.
