MALLARD 75 - GREAT GATHERING
For those unaware, the NRM has today released tickets for the various special events celebrating Mallard 75.
The web-site and phone lines were inundated and I found that the payment screen did not work when I finally got through - not properly tested I'm afraid.
It took all afternoon, but perseverence paid off in the end and I obtained 4 tickets for the 5 July 2013 8.00am Great Gathering exclusive access morning, and 1 ticket only (because of the expense) for the Great Goodbye photography evening at Shildon on 17 February 2014 (yes 2014!).
The lovely lady I spoke to at the NRM said that tickets had been "selling like hot cakes" from the moment they were released.
I will have friends along on 5 July but if any Forum members wish to say hello I would be delighted.

Re: MALLARD 75 - GREAT GATHERING
Wonder what the later events will be like - would love to see all six but tend to shy away from galas etc owing to the attitudes and behaviour of those attending - unfortunately whenever I try one, for example Battlefield a couple of weeks ago, I'm always reminded why!

Re: MALLARD 75 - GREAT GATHERING
I am heading up on Sunday 7th July for a gander at them, would of been lovely if Bittern had been repainted into LNER green whilst she is wearing her valances
I am going to make a holiday of it, spend the Sunday at NRM then move upto Whitby area and spend a few days, take in the NYMR, then maybe on way back divert via KWVR, am sure SWMBO will have other plans tho!!!

Mallard should run on the mainline doing what normal trains do.

Yep, and destroy/replace a great deal of original material that remains, whereas there are already three other working A4's
