D&S Models 4mm/1ft LNER Dynamometer Car - Special Re-Release
I have just rec'd the following letter from Dan Pinnock -
LNER DYNAMOMETER CAR - RE-RELEASE
This year is the 75th anniversary of Mallard setting the WORLD STEAM RECORD of 126mph. To mark this event D&S Models are producing a special re-release in 4mm scale, of a kit for the vehicle that measured this feat. The LNER version of the Dynamometer Car is now in the N.R.M. at York.
It is 20 years almost to the day when we announced our original kit. Now much sought after, this release will be available up to the end of July 2013 and will be the last issue of the kit. Specification for the kit will be etched brass with cast whitemetal fittings, incorporating some interior detail. The price is £75.00 post free.
To reserve please fill in and return the order form below with a £10.00 deposit. Balance to be sent on notification of completion of the kit ready for despatch.

Please reserve the above, and I enclose my deposit of £10.00

I would imagine that the kit will be a "limited run", so if you want one best to get your order in quick!

Does anyone know if the original North Eastern Railway version is being re-released as well, as both versions were when first introduced?
Re: D&S Models 4mm/1ft LNER Dynamometer Car - Special Re-Rel
4mm drawings and pictures in latest Railway Modeller good article. Sadly no interior photos.

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive
I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Re: D&S Models 4mm/1ft LNER Dynamometer Car - Special Re-Rel
Good morning all
The dynamometer car is being released just in time to be coupled to Hornby's Cock 'o the North to re-run the 1934 test of NINETEEN coaches plus the Dynamometer car.
Will sales of Mallard increase so people can run the 1938 record breaking train?

Mallard won't be the problem. Where will you get decent - by current standards - models of the Coronation twins to go behind it?

By my reckoning that's at least 17 feet of train in 4mm.earlswood nob wrote:The dynamometer car is being released just in time to be coupled to Hornby's Cock 'o the North to re-run the 1934 test of NINETEEN coaches plus the Dynamometer car.

On his other releases for Sept/Oct/Nov has anybody had any confirmation of prices yet, my list says hopefully held at £48 per kit.
Re: D&S Models 4mm/1ft LNER Dynamometer Car - Special Re-Rel
Dave,
I spoke to Dan at the weekend too. He said it would be towards the end of the year for the next batch of 4mm kits, after the Dynamometer cars. I didn't ask about the price of the bogie vans, but he said he would be sending out lists, perhaps by the end of October, but I guess it will be a little later.

They cost what they cost - I wrote to Danny ages ago about the bogie vans with a pre-order.

For those interested, I've been asked about the transfers on the model that Roy Mears has recently completed for the Grantham project. He had them specially made but has offered to coordinate another 'run' if enough folks are interested.
Anyone got an idea of how many may be interested?
